Andy Muschietti Promises That 'IT: Chapter 2' Will Be a Much Darker and Scarier Sequel

As reported two weeks ago, Andy Muschietti‘s anticipated sequel IT: Chapter 2 is scheduled to begin filming in Toronto, Canada this July. And today we have some interesting new comments form the director.

CinemaCon just shared a taped interview with Muschietti, who warned the viewers to “bring your adult diapers to the theatres” because the sequel is going to be much “darker and even scarier” than the first chapter.

Cinematographer Checco Varese (“The Strain”, “True Blood”) will be lensing IT: Chapter 2The Handmaiden and Oldboy DP Chung-hoon Chung was the cinematographer on the first IT to great success.

American actress and film producer Jessica Chastain has landed the role of adult Beverly Marsh in the second part of the film. James McAvoy (Split) and Bill Hader (“Saturday Night Live”) are in discussions to join the cast. McAvoy is in talks to play Bill, while Hader is in talks to play Richie.

Filming will take place again at Pinewood Toronto Studios and will wrap on October 20th. Gary Dauberman is writing the script. Bill Skarsgard will reprise his role as Pennywise.

Synopsis:
The evil clown Pennywise returns 27 years later to torment the grown-up members of the Losers’ Club.

IT: Chapter 2 is due to hit theaters on September 6th2019.
