While talking with Flickering Myth at SXSW this past Sunday, Halloween co-writer and executive producer Danny McBride revealed that the new film will reference and pay homage to every sequel in the franchise. Now that’s pretty awesome to hear!

McBride told the site:

This picks up after the first one. The Halloween franchise has kind of become a little bit of like choose your own adventure, you know like there’s some many different versions, and the timeline is so mixed up, we just thought it would be easier to go back to the source and contnue from from there. It was nicer than knowing you’re working on Halloween 11, it just seemed cooler, ‘we’re making Halloween 2’. We do [reference the other movies]. For fans, we pay homage and respect to every Halloween that has been out there.

British actress Rhian Rees (Confession of a Child of the Century, Rehearsal, The Lears) recently joined the cast as Dana, Toby Huss (Ghostbusters, Martyrs, Bad Milo) has been cast as Ray, Turkish actor Haluk Bilginer (Forget About Nick, Trendy, The Ottoman Lieutenant) will play Sartain, Diva Tyler (Killing Winston Jones, Slice 3, The Last Exorcism Part II) is playing a caretaker.

Will Patton “Shots Fired” has been cast to play a police officer. Rob Niter will play a Warren County Sheriff’s Department officer. Ginny Gardner “Runaways”, Miles Robbins (My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (When We Rise), Drew Scheid (“Stranger Things”), have all joined the cast playing school friends of Matichak’s character, Andi Allyson.

Christopher Nelson heads the special fx, along with Emmy Award nominee Vincent Van Dyke, who worked with Halloween icon Jamie Lee Curtis on the TV show Scream Queens. The film’s FX makeup coordinator is Bright‘s Stephanie A. Ford.

Synopsis:
Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Nick Castle will once again return to play Michael Myers, Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to reprise her iconic role as Laurie Strode, Judy Greer will play Karen, the daughter of Laurie, Andi Matichak is playing Allyson, Greer’s daughter and Curtis’ granddaughter.

John Carpenter will executive produce with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and horror specialist Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

Halloween will stalk theaters on October 19th, 2018.
