Director Corin Hardy's ‘The Crow Reborn’ is Left Abandoned By All Involved

It appears that The Crow Reborn, which was supposed to begin principal photography this July in Budapest, Hungary, has been abandoned by all involved.

Deadline reports today that Jason Momoa and director Corin Hardy formally withdrew from the film this morning. This after Sony was close to exiting as the film’s worldwide distributor.

The site’s Mike Fleming Jr reported:

I’m told this has to do with creative and financial differences with Samuel Hadida, whose Davis Films holds underlying rights and who was financing the film. Production was gearing up to start within the next five weeks in Budapest, and the picture was in full pre-production with Hardy presiding.

Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow previously acquired the rights to finance, produce and distribute the film.

Edward R. Pressman, who produced the original 1994 film starring Brandon Lee, will produce The Crow Reborn alongside Hadida and Kevin Misher of Misher Films. Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow are also producing, with HFG handling international sales. The film was developed by Pressman and Relativity.

How do you feel about the project being abandoned? We know there’s many of our readers who would prefer that director Alex Proyas original The Crow never be touched.
