You’ve all probably heard by now that George A. Romero is trying to fund his latest zombie flick titled Road of the Dead, which is currently in the works as we speak. A financial struggle is standing in the way of the film becoming a reality, and it still might be. However, we do have an awesome sales artwork poster to show you down below!
The new flick is co-written by Romero and is set to be directed by Matt Birman, who worked beside Romero as a second unit director on the last few Dead films, including 2005’s Land of the Dead.
Road of the Dead takes place six years after Land of the Dead and is set on:
“on an island where zombie prisoners race cars in a modern-day Coliseum for the entertainment of wealthy humans.”
Birman describes the project as “Road Warrior meets Rollerball at a Nascar race”, and reveals significant inspiration was taken from Ben-Hur.
While we wait to see if Romero can seek the funding needed to begin the project, you can take a look at the new poster artwork tease below. Stay tuned for more updates on Road of the Dead only at Dark Universe.
