Fox CEO Gary Newman Says There's No Plans for Another "X-Files" Season

Back in January “The X-Files” actress Gillian Anderson made an official announcement via social media that after season 11 she’s done with the show for good. While that news was like a punch in the heart for any hardcore fans, today’s upsetting piece of news continues to poke at that open wound.

Fox co-chairman and CEO Gary Newman dropped the following short message, stating that there will be no more “X-Files” for the time being.

There are no plans to do another season at the moment.

However, “The X-Files” series creator Chris Carter believes that the show has a lot more stories to tell and ways to tell them.

I can’t imagine there wouldn’t be more X-Files, in some shape or form. I think there are lots more stories to tell and ways to tell them. I’m leaving this as a giant cliffhanger, and Gillian has announced that she’s not coming back. Hard-core X-Files fans know there have been no real endings on the show.

It’s a blow to the hardcore fans of the show, that’s for sure. How do you feel about the end of “The X-Files”? Post your thoughts in the comments section below to let us know.
