Chucky will be making his return to our screens this October in franchise creator Don Mancini’s seventh installment Cult of Chucky, and it’ll mark the fourth film in the iconic horror series to star Jennifer Tilly. We are also hearing that this time around she’ll have a much bigger role, which might lead to the actress appearing in more future sequels. We sure as hell hope there’s more to come!
THR website recently caught up with Tilly, where she teased the future of the franchise and a returning role in possibly more upcoming Child’s Play films.
Jennifer Tilly on the future of the franchise:
“I’m super-good friends with [Don Mancini],” she told the outlet. “I think he’s going to put me in every Chucky movie until the end of time, and I honestly feel like there are going to be Chucky movies until the end of time because at the end of every movie he dies and comes back to life again.”
Jennifer Tilly on Cult of Chucky:
“I play Tiffany, and I’m sure you don’t follow it but a few years ago, I played myself and Tiffany went into my body — Jennifer Tilly, international movie star — and Tiffany the doll, Tiffany’s soul went into Jennifer. So in this movie, I may be Tiffany or I may be Jennifer Tilly. We don’t know. But they introduce me as Jennifer Tilly, but I’m very Tiffany-esque. I kill people. It’s really fun. The Chucky fans and horror film fans will really love that.”
Brad Dourif will once again return to voice Chucky. Other returning cast will include Fiona Dourif, who will reprise her role from Curse of Chucky as (Nica Pierce), joining her will be veterans Alex Vincent (Andy Barclay) and Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany). Summer H. Howell (Curse of Chucky) will also return. Cult of Chucky is written and directed by Don Mancini, who co-wrote the original film and directed both Seed of Chucky and Curse of Chucky sequels.
“Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.”
Universal Home Entertainment will be releasing an unrated version of Cult of Chucky on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD this fall, perfect timing for Halloween.
