We were unsure whether or not next year’s Halloween film would be taking place after the events of Halloween 2, but it’s just been confirmed today by horror master John Carpenter himself that the new film will be disregarding everything past the original.

Carpenter talked with Stereo Gum today, revealing some very important info.

It’s kind of a… I don’t know how to describe it. It’s almost an alternative reality,” Carpenter described the film. “It picks up after the first one and it pretends that none of the others were made. It’s gonna be fun. There’s a really talented director and it was well-written. I’m impressed.

Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to reprise her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the next year’s Halloween. Judy Greer (Jurassic World) is in talks to play Karen, the daughter of Laurie.

John Carpenter will executive produce with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and horror specialist Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

Synopsis:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Halloween will stalk theaters on October 19th, 2018.
