It’s been almost a year since we last heard anything solid on the Kevin Bacon-fronted Tremors TV series, which will focus on his character Valentine McKee 25 years later.
The latest on the new series comes via ScreenDaily, who reports that Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum is producing a pilot for the Syfy network.
“We are going to do a pilot for Syfy,” the Footloose and Diner star told Screen while at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, where he was attending a screening of Story Of A Girl, in which he co-stars.”
He will again be playing Valentine McKee, the Nevada handyman who tussles with gigantic man-eating sandworms.
“It’s the only character I’ve ever played that I was interested in exploring 25 years later,” Bacon said. “It (Tremors) is a really good movie. I don’t go back and watch my movies but because we were doing this one, I had to go back and look at it. It’s just the idea of this loser who is living a very ordinary life and has an extraordinary experience with these monsters and becomes, for a moment, a hero.”
The reboot will look at what happens to the character a quarter of a century on.
Tremors star Michael “Burt Gummer” Gross could also make a return in the upcoming TV series, if it ever becomes a reality.
