Legacy Effects to Create the Mask for Breck Eisner's ‘Friday the 13th'

Jason Voorhees will be returning to the big screen in director Breck Eisner’s Friday the 13th reboot in October, which is scheduled to begin shooting on March 19th. The next film will focus more on Jason’s origin story, diving deeper into his past by introducing more family members. Today, we have another cool update for you on the status of Jason’s mask.

F13Franchise are reporting some very interesting news, Platinum Dunes has just hired Legacy Effects to create Jason’s hockey masks, props, and special effects for the next film. You may know some of their awesome work in such movies as Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Hunger Games, World War Z, Godzilla, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Revenant.

Another interesting report from the website is that Legacy Effects will be responsible for creating a mask that resembles the original hockey mask brought to the series by Shelly in Friday the 13th: Part 3.

Breck Eisner (The Crazies) is helming the project with Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) writing the script. Brad Fuller has said the film is “an origin-ish story.”

The 13th installment in Friday the 13th will focus on the family members, including Pamela Voorhees, and also Jason’s father, Elijah.

The next Friday the 13th will be released on October 13th, 2017.
