I think it became pretty obvious over the last couple of months that Saw: Legacy wasn’t going to be the official title for Lionsgate’s latest franchise instalment. The film is currently in post-production for release on October 27, 2017, just in time for Halloween. Dark Universe just got word today that Lionsgate has now confirmed JIGSAW as the official title for the next film!
We also learned a while back that the next entry is going to be rated “R” for “Grisly Bloody Violence and Torture.” Sounds great, don’t you think?
JIGSAW begins with:
“bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?”
Saw: Legacy cast also includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.
The film is written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfiner, the guys behind Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD, and Sorority Row. The film will be directed by the Spierig brothers, Peter and Michael, who are responsible for Undead, Daybreakers and Predestination, while Dan Heffner and Oren Koules are evidently producing.
JIGSAW is due for release on October 27, 2017.
