Mckenna Grace Nabs Lead Role in New 'Ghostbusters' Sequel

Sony recently announced an official release date for Jason Reitman‘s new Ghostbusters sequel, which is set to debut in theaters on July 10th, 2020.

The Hollywood reporter shared the following update this past Wednesday evening that actress Mckenna Grace (The Red Seed) has joined the new Ghostbusters sequel as the ostensible lead, with Finn Wolfhard playing her brother and Carrie Coon her single mother.

The upcoming film will be set in the world that was saved decades previously by the proton pack-wearing working stiffs in the original 1984 movie, which was directed by Ivan Reitman. Filmmaker Gil Kenan (Monster House, Poltergeist) is attached to co-write.

As previously confirmed by Jason Reitman via EW: “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”

The next Ghostbusters movie is set for a summer 2020 release.
