Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Maniac Cop’ Remake Gets The Green Light

The remake for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Manaic Cop will receive financing, which means the project will go ahead very soon. Space Rocket has partnered up with Wild Bunch and Vendian Entertainment who have come together for their first multi-year project, which will be a remake of the horror classic Manaic Cop.

“Maniac Cop follows innocent people who are brutally murdered on the streets of Los Angeles by a uniformed police officer. As the death toll rises and LAPD attempts a cover up, one determined female cop sets out to reveal the truth.”

Refn will be acting producer on the new film, which is being directed by John Hyams. The movie is planned for shooting this summer in Los Angeles.

The original (1988) iconic horror was directed by directed by William Lustig and starred Tom Atkins, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Z’Da playing the role of Matt Cordell (Maniac Cop).
