Retro Memories: Alien 3 On the Sega Master System By Probe Software

Made for the Sega Master System, was developed by Probe Software and was released June 9, 1992 by Acclaim Entertainment inc. Alien 3 on the Master System is not an easy game, the Aliens are FAST and your motion tracker is the only device warning you of such threats.

You play a stranded Ellen Ripley on [planet Fiorina “Fury” 161] with homicidal Alien creatures coming from everywhere, she has not got it easy. I will warn you again, this is not an easy game to play.

Alien 3 puts you in some difficult situations, a perfect example would be inside those air ducts, in that limited space it’s hard to manoeuvre. You are armed with hefty firepower to blast away the Aliens in your path, in maze-like levels in search of endangered prisoners. Some neat weapons you pick up along the way include the Flamethrower, Explosive gun, and Grenades.

Your main mission is to rescue trapped prisoners along the way, each level has between 7-10 of them to free. Aliens are lurking everywhere in the game, and you’ll soon feel the pressure of rescuing cocooned prisoners before they become infected.

Along the way the bosses and enemies Ripley encounters are a real challenge, such as Alien pods, Alien hatchlings, Regular Aliens, Big Aliens (Bosses), Hidden Aliens, Dropping Aliens, and Level guardians also known as Alien Warriors. The games soundtrack is very effective, especially when you have Aliens coming at you form all directions.

There have been other versions of Alien 3 released for Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis/Megadrive, Master System, Game Gear, Commodore 64 and AmigaOS.

What are your memories of the game?
