While we wait for the official trailer to drop for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, we have another photo of Katherine Waterston (Daniels), who looks to be our modern day version of Ripley.
The photo comes courtesy of Empire, and Waterston explained a couple of differences between Daniels and Ripley:
“Unlike Sigourney in Alien, [Daniels] is in a survival mode of sorts from the beginning,” said the actress. “She’s not the captain, but she’s a natural leader so in times of crisis she falls into that position quite easily.”
Michael Fassbender is returning as Prometheus‘ android David, with Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice, Jobs, The Babysitters) leading a new crew that includes Demian Bichir and Danny McBride (“Eastbound and Down”), as well as Alex England (Gods of Egypt), Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die, “The Killing”), Jussie Smollett (“Empire”), Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills).
The story goes: “Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant reaches theaters on the new date of May 19, 2017.
