Sigourney Weaver Has Reportedly Joined New 'Ghostbusters' Movie

A new Ghostbusters movie, directed by Jason Reitman, is heading to theatres next year. According to a recent updated cast sheet, Sigourney Weaver, star of the original 1984 classic, is reportedly returning. While we don’t have an official confirmation, we do have an image of the cast sheet from Production Weekly.

The upcoming movie will be set in the world that was saved decades previously by the proton pack-wearing working stiffs in the original 1984 movie, which was directed by Ivan Reitman. Filmmaker Gil Kenan (Monster House, Poltergeist) is attached to co-write. When announced back in January, we were given a 50-second video tease of the classic Ecto-1, confirming its return.

Here’s a screen cap of the cast list via the Michigan Ghostbusters Facebook page:

Reitman previously stated: “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.

The cast includes Mckenna Grace (The Red Seed), with Finn Wolfhard playing her brother and Carrie Coon her single mother.

The new Ghostbusters movie is released on July 10th, 2020.
