Stephen King TV Series “Castle Rock" to Begin Filming This Summer!

We have the latest on Hulu and J.J. Abrams upcoming fictional Stephen King “Castle Rock” TV series, which is gearing up to begin filming this summer!

The 10-episode Stephen King TV series “Castle Rock” will begin filming this coming August at New England Studios in Devens, Massachusetts. We are told that Cameras are set to roll until next January, and sets are being built by the production crews on site. Some of the filming will also take place in Orange – a small town 45 minutes west of Leominster.

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, “Castle Rock” combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The first-of-its-kind reimagining explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories and characters.

Castle Rock first appeared in King’s 1979 novel “The Dead Zone”, and has reappeared as late as his 2013 novel “Doctor Sleep” and 2014 novel “Revival”.

“Cujo”, “The Dark Half” and “Needful Things” were set in Castle Rock, while “Creepshow”, “The Stand”, “Sleepwalkers”, “Gerald’s Game” and even “It” reference the town.

Manhattan creator Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developed the project for television and serve as writers. They executive produce along with Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer.
