McFarlane Says His R-Rated 'Spawn' Film Will Scare the Shit Out of You!

Todd McFarlane has been talking about his plans to make the next Spawn film for quiet sometime, which he says will be a dark, R-rated, scary, badass sort of script. It might be a good while before we see the film really progress, because McFarlane’s exceptionally high demands seem to be causing some delays. Check out what he had to say in an interview with the guys over at SyFy Wire.

Todd MacFarlane’s demands for Spawn:

So I’m going, I’m not selling it but if you want to see the rough draft, I’ll send it to you. But just so everybody knows, I write, produce, direct, non-negotiable. And if you add a moment’s hesitation to that, we have to end this conversation right now.

MacFarlane on budget:

I think all the hesitation goes away once you read the script. I wouldn’t ask to be a newbie director on a script that was going to have an eighty million budget for it. Why? Because as a CEO of my own corporation, I wouldn’t take that deal. I wouldn’t stick out $80 million and go, ‘they’re going to put a rookie and he’s going to basically be in charge of it.’ So I’ve created this tight little one that I keep saying, I think I can shoot it for ten.

Macfarlane went on to mention that his new R-Rated Spawn film will “scare the sh*t out of you.” Go ahead and listen to the full conversation with Macfarlane and SyFy Wire below.
