We were all surprised by Child’s Play Creator Don Mancini‘s latest idea regarding Chucky’s venture into World War II, which of course was just a joke. Today, however, brings a more serious announcement regarding the future of the franchise.

News dropped yesterday evening that writer/director Don Mancini and Child’s Play producer David Kirschner are currently working on a brand new Chucky TV series, reports the people over at the BD website.

Horror icon Brad Dourif will once again return as the voice of Chucky, so that’s a big bonus for the fans. Kirschner also noted that “it won’t be a reboot and will be a continuation story.” Mancini revealed that the series was “deliberately set up at end of the last movie,” and the “tone is dark and disturbing.

Mancini continues to tease the series, stating that: “We plan to use Child’s Play in the title. We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.

Now that’s some pretty amazing news for fans of the Child’s Play franchise, wouldn’t you say? Stay tuned to Dark Universe for more on this in the coming weeks.
