Christopher Columbus Says a Script for 'Gremlins 3' Exists, Promises Tangible Puppets Instead of CGI

While speaking with our friends over at Collider today, Christopher Columbus, the talent behind the screenplay for Joe Dante 1984 classic Gremlins, revealed that he would still love to make Gremlins 3 if he can resolve certain rights issues trapping the projects progression.

Columbus revealed the following details to the site:

I would love to do it. I wrote a script, so there is an existing script. We’re working out some rights issues right now, so we’re just trying to figure out when the best time to make that film would be.

He added: “I would still do it the same way – I would do it as tangible puppets, not CGI. Maybe having — you know we had one stop-motion scene in the first Gremlins, but I don’t think I’d use much CGI in Gremlins 3.

Until the rights issues are sorted, any movement on Gremlins 3 won’t be happening. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this issue gets resolved sooner rather than later.
