Back in February, Dark Universe learned that Sony Pictures had signed on to distribute The Crow Reborn worldwide. Corin Hardy is attached to direct, with Jason Momoa (Aquaman) on board to star as Eric Draven. We just got official word that the film will begin shooting early next year.

ScreenGeek caught up with the Creator of The Crow James O’Barr at Los Angeles Comic Con, and he confirmed the following:

As of right now, it’s slated to start pre-production in February with a very talented British director named Corin Hardy. I’m involved in every aspect of the film and working closely with the director.

The Crow Reborn is being teased as a reboot of the 1994 film as well as a more faithful adaptation of the original graphic novel written by James O’Barr.

Like the original, the story follows Eric Draven, a murder victim who returns from the dead, seeking vengeance on those who murdered him and his fiancée with the help of a mystical bird.

Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow previously acquired the rights to finance, produce and distribute the film.

Edward R. Pressman, who produced the original 1994 film starring Brandon Lee, will produce The Crow Reborn alongside Hadida and Kevin Misher of Misher Films. Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow are also producing, with HFG handling international sales. The film was developed by Pressman and Relativity.
