Dan Trachtenberg's New 'Predator' Movie 'Prey' Will Be Set in 1719

If you somehow missed the first initial announcement from 20th Century Studios back in November of 2021, it was revealed that Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg had been hired to work on a new Predator prequel movie titled Prey. Now that you are up to speed, we have more information on the film’s setting, which will take place in the Great Plains in 1719.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter this past Thursday, 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell shared the following details on Prey:

In order to meet the volume that we are looking at — which is, by 2023, 10-plus movies just for streaming — it’s going to be a combination of originals in those genres (comedy, thriller, young adult, horror). And coolest of all for fans, we get to find bold takes on beloved Fox properties. You can take big creative swings — which you’ll see with Prey, which we’ll launch this summer. A Predator movie set in the Great Plains in 1719 by Dan Trachtenberg. That’s what this allows us to do.

The film has the follows synopsis:

“Naru, a skilled female warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator.”

How do you feel about a Predator prequel movie being set in 1719? Are you excited to see what director Dan Trachtenberg can bring to the table? As usual, you can let us know the answers to both questions down in our comments section below this post.

Prey stars Amber Midthunder (“Roswell, New Mexico”), Dane DiLiegro (“American Horror Stories”) and Dakota Beavers, the lead singer in the band known as WesternBoy.

Prey will make its debut exclusively on to the Hulu streaming platform in the summer of 2022.
