David Gordon Green Describes Michael Myers as the Essence of Evil in New ‘Halloween’

David Gordon Green on Michael Myers in the New 2018 Halloween Movie

Blumhouse Productions and director David Gordon Green‘s 40-years later Halloween sequel will attempt to bring Michael Myers back to his chilling roots of the classic 1978 film, and everyone involved is promising a bone-chilling horror experience. From what we’ve seen from some official imagery thus far, it appears to be on the right track.

In an interview conducted today with L.A. Times, the director talked about the character of Micheal Myers in Halloween:

Michael Myers hasn’t evolved as a character in any way, shape or form [since 1978]; he’s the essence of evil. He has no character. He has no personality. He has no interests. He never has. He’s someone that is moving forward and reacting to the world around him, but not with any sort of conscious objective. And how the world around him reacts to his behavior is where our story comes to life.

Green is using the right words to describe how frightening the character of Michael Myers can be when used correctly. We only have to wait 50 days to find out how effective the new 2018 Halloween movie will be.

Synopsis: “Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, who returns as Laurie Strode, Nick Castle, who reprises his role as Michael Myers, stuntman and actor James Jude Courtney will also don the mask, Judy Greer plays Karen, the daughter of Laurie, Andi Matichak plays Allyson, the daughter of Greer and the granddaughter of Laurie Strode, Virginia Ginny Gardner plays Vicky, Miles Robbins plays Dave, Dylan Arnold plays Cameron, and Drew Scheid plays Oscar.

John Carpenter executive produced the film with Malek Akkad for Trancas and horror specialist Jason Blum of Blumhouse. Gordon Green and Danny McBride also executive produced under their Rough House Pictures banner. Special FX specialist Christopher Nelson created the new Michael Myers mask.

So what do you make of Green’s comments regarding Michael Myers’ essence in the new Halloween sequel? Have you booked your ticked to go see the film in theaters this October? As always, you can leave your thoughts on this down in our comments section below this article.
