'Evil Dead Rise': Director Lee Cronin Teases "Intense Cut" from the Editing Room

Evil Dead Rise, which doesn’t have an exact release date set in place at present time, is currently being edited by its writer/director Lee Cronin, who shared an update on his Twitter account this past Thursday evening, proclaiming that 2022 will be “The Year of the Deadite.”

Evil Dead icon Bruce Campbell recently watched a rough cut of the film back in November, proclaiming that it’s coming along nicely and things are in “good shape”.

You can check out Cronin’s tweet below, where he mentions an “intense cut” of Evil Dead Rise:

In Evil Dead Rise, “Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sister’s reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

The film was produced by Sam RaimiBruce Campbell and Robert Tapert.

Do you think the absence of Bruce Campbell will effect your experience watching Evil Dead Rise? Are you a fan of Lee Cronin’s previous horror film The Hole in the Ground? As usual, you let us know the answer to both questions down in our comments section below this news article.

The film stars Gabrielle EcholsNell FisherMorgan Davies, Mia Challis, Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland.

Look for Evil Dead Rise to make its official debut on HBO Max later this year.
