'Evil Dead Rise' Receives “R” Rating for Strong Bloody Horror Violence and Gore!

We recently learned from director Lee Cronin that the team behind Evil Dead Rise have completed the editing process on the project after 6 months of hard work. Another welcomed piece of news to report this week is that the film has officially been giving an “R” rating from the MPA. We know you didn’t expect nothing less in terms of ratings for an Evil Dead film, but our job is to keep Dark Universe readers updated every step of the way.

New Line Cinema’s Evil Dead Rise has been rated “R” for “Strong bloody horror violence and gore, and some language.

Cronin took to Twitter and shared the following jokey message regarding the film’s rating:

I thought about making #EvilDeadRise a warm family friendly PG, but, instead decided to rip that notion to bloody bits and pieces.”

Evil Dead Rise has the following synopsis:

Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sister’s reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.

The film was produced by Sam RaimiBruce Campbell and Robert Tapert.
