'The Exorcist': Original Star Ellen Burstyn to Return in $400m David Gordon Green-Directed Sequel Trilogy

You have probably heard the news by now that David Gordon Green (Halloween Kills) is directing a sequel to The Exorcist for Morgan Creek and Blumhouse Productions. The latest is that Morgan Creek, Universal, and Peacock are going ahead with an Exorcist trilogy. According to another report going around this week, the first of the new trilogy will hit theaters close to the original film’s 50th anniversary on October 13th, 2023, and will star Ellen Burstyn reprising her role as Chris MacNeil from the 1973 classic The Exorcist.

Scott Teems, Danny McBride and Green crafted the story currently being written by Peter Sattler (Broken Diamonds).

Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton) also stars beside Burstyn.

The story is set on:

Odom Jr. will play the father of a possessed child. Desperate for help, he tracks down Ms. Burstyn’s character.

David Robinson and James Robinson will serve as producers with Jason Blum.
