Wolfhard first spoke about his passion for the franchise saying, “When I was really young, my parents were really big fans of the original movies, so I grew up watching them. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis – all of those were big, big people in our house. So getting to be a part of that legacy now is very flattering.

He went on to assure Ghostbusters fans that the new movie will be a “really, really faithful approach to the series,” and “While young people, if not everyone, will find that, first and foremost, Ghostbusters is about family and the relationships that these people have made.

Family is not just a theme in the film but also in the making of it. The new movie was directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two installments. Ivan also produced the new movie which is another positive sign of the film returning to its roots of the original movies.
