'Firestarter': Blumhouse’s Stephen King Adaptation Scores an R-Rating for "Violent Content"

Director Keith Thomas and Blumhouse’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s 1980 novel Firestarter has been stamped with an R-rating from the MPA. As reported back in July of 2021, we learned that filming had officially wrapped in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario.

According to FilmRatings.com, Firestarter has been rateed R for “Violent Content.”

The film follows: “A young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.

Are you a fan of director Mark L. Lester’s original Firestarter? How do you think Armstrong will match up against Drew Barrymore’s performance in the original 1984 film? As usual, you let us know the answer to both questions down in our comments section below this news article.

The film stars Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Charlie McGee, Zac Efron as Andy McGee, Sydney Lemmon as Vicky McGee, Michael Greyeyes as Rainbird, and Gloria Reuben in an unspecified role.

Look for an update on the release date for Firestarter to come.
