‘The Hunger Games’ Writer Billy Ray to Rewrite ‘Terminator 6’ for Producer James Cameron

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton

Dark Universe just learned today that the oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray has joined Producer James Cameron on the next Terminator film, with Deadpool‘s Tim Miller directing. Ray is also known for his work on films such as Captain Phillips, Volcano, Suspect Zero, Flightplan, and Overlord.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Cameron, and Linda Hamilton are coming back, but we don’t have any official word on whether or not Edward Furlong will complete the line up.

Terminator 6 will be a direct sequel to Cameron’s 1991 classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day, with further plans to launch a new trilogy that will reinvent the franchise.

James Cameron is producing along with Skydance and Paramount, which is based on a story crafted by Cameron. Cameron and Miller created a writers room team, including David Goyer (Blade, The Dark Knight), Charles Eglee (“Dark Angel”) and Josh Friedman (“The Sarah Connor Chronicles”).

The film will be released by Paramount Pictures on July 26, 2019.
