John Carpenter and Jason Blum Officially Developing a Reboot of 'The Thing'

It’s been a good seven months since we last first heard about Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ new adaptation of The Thing, which will feature content from John Campbell’s original novel Frozen Hell.

According to the folks over at Variety, John Carpenter, the horror master himself, is officially attached to The Thing reboot. He recently hinted in an interview with Fantasia International Film Festival that he would be “involved with that, maybe. Down the road.

Executive producer Alan Donnes had the following to say about the project back in January:

I am Executive Producing a remake of THE THING but with additional chapters of John Campbell’s groundbreaking novel, Frozen Hell, that had been lost for decades.

He added: “Now, for the first time ever, Campbell’s full vision will be realized on the big screen. The new film will include the very best of RKO’s THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, John Carpenter’s classic THE THING and both books, Frozen Hell and Who Goes There?

You can check out what Carpenter had the say about The Thing below, around the 27:30 mark.
