John Carpenter Returns To The Halloween Franchise To Act As Executive Producer!

At this moment in time, I’m such an emotional mess about this amazing, shocking Halloween update. John Carpenter will make his return to Halloween and produce a new movie in the franchise, something I have hoped would happen for over 30 years.

In a press gathering Last night at the Los Angeles Blumhouse Productions offices, it was revealed in an announcement that a new Halloween movie is in the works! And Trancas International, Miramax and Blumhouse will be Partnering together to cofinance the new feature, which will lock in a talent that every fan of the franchise will be shocked to hear. John Carpenter, the master of horror and legendary director behind the original Halloween, will be returning to the franchise as executive producer! Malek Akkad will also be producing along with Jason Blum.

“We made the original HALLOWEEN for very little money,” he added. “At heart it’s just a good, scary story, and that’s why it works.  38 years after the original Halloween,” says John Carpenter, “I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all.”

“HALLOWEEN needs to return to its traditions,” Carpenter said. “I feel like the movies have gotten away from that… Michael is not just a human being; he’s a force of nature, like the wind. That’s what makes him so scary.”

Although John’s not yet been officially attached to the film, Jason Blum made it very clear at the press announcement that the hope is to see John Carpenter also return to score the new Halloween, which means we’ll hear the classic John Carpenter music theme while Michael Myers stalks his victims with the iconic signature sounds!

Malek Akkad, son of the late Moustapha Akkad who was the producer on the original series, explains,

“Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on ‘Halloween,’ one of the most enduring horror franchises in film,” adds Malek Akkad. “We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.”

There isn’t a confirmed release date at this time, but the hope is to have a new Halloween film premiere by 2017.
