Michael Myers is set to make a big return in next year’s new Halloween film, which is being handled by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride and begins shooting this fall. Green and McBride are looking to bring The Shape back to his true terrifying roots of pure evil, and approaching John Carpenter to join the mix and create the iconic score is a very good start.

While at the Toronto International Film Festival this past weekend, director Gordon Green shared a new update on the project. Via reporter Jason Guerrasio on Twitter:

David Gordon Green tells me John Carpenter has seen the script, given notes, digs it. Still wants to do score.

Guerrasio also shared a tweeted via TIFF stating that the plan is “to shoot this fall with an eye on a Halloween night opening in 2018.”

Carpenter will executive produce with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and horror specialist Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

Halloween is expected to open in theaters on October 19st, 2018.
