'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Star Freddie Prinze Jr. Wants to Make Another Horror Movie in 2022

With the debut of Amazon Prime’s television adaptation of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” hitting the streaming service this past fall, buzz around the popular teen slasher franchise picked back up. Despite the show’s mixed reviews, it did bring up fond memories of the 1997 film, which helped rekindle the slasher subgenre alongside Scream, it also being written by Kevin Williamson. That said, one star of the Last Summer franchise isn’t totally done with the horror game.

Freddie Prinze Jr. tweeted out the following on Monday afternoon:

Some may read this as a desire to reboot Last Summer in film form, but FPJ quickly shot this down in a reply to a fan:

Chief among the replies was former WWE superstar Killer/Karrion Kross, who simply replied with this GIF:

Could this new project involve the former NXT Champion? After all, Prinze was a two-time writer for WWE, and Kross is great at playing a menacing berserker type. This whole affair is a developing story at best, and we can’t suggest that this is even in the works… but never say never, I suppose.

For those looking to revisit the Last Summer franchise, the first two films are currently streaming on Netflix, with the embattled third film I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer available to rent through one’s provider of choice. The new television series’ first season is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, though no word yet on if there will be a continuation, as Amazon has neither canceled nor renewed the show as of press time.
