Mortal Kombat Reboot First Character Story Details; New Fighter Cole Turner Leads

After a year of silence, news just broke that New Line’s Mortal Kombat reboot is finally making progress with a bunch of new characters and full story details for each fighter.

The project is being directed by Simon Mcquoid from a script by Greg Russo, and spearheaded by producer James Wan.

In an interview with Collider last year, former Mortal Kombat reboot writer Oren Uziel, who was originally attached to the project, described the script as being very dark.

I don’t know what remains of this, but I know that it was going to be—it’s almost like if you took The Avengers, or if you took a storyline like that and set it in a sort of hard-R, over-the-top violence and hard-edged world of Mortal Kombat,” Uziel explained. “It was a little bit like that, it was a little bit like a Wanted-type story that brought together a bunch of these characters and just pulled zero punches, and had a tone that was still fun but very dark.”

I know James Wan came on to produce, so that to me was a good sign that maybe things were heating up again, but beyond that I really don’t know the specifics,” the writer added.

Today, however, we have included for you the following new character bio information and first story details for the Mortal Kombat reboot, which comes courtesy of the awesome folks over at That Hashtag Show website.
