New Line's ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Reimagining is Still Happening

The future of the A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise has been unclear over the past couple of years. We last saw Freddy Krueger on the big screen almost a decade ago in Samuel Bayer’s remake, which was a lacklustre attempt to capture the magic of Wes Craven’s original 1984 horror slasher classic.

You’re probably asking yourself, what ever happened to New Line’s A Nightmare on Elm Street reimagining? Read on for an update.

In an interview with the folks over at GameSpot on Christmas eve, writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick revealed:

It’s still happening. Nothing is percolating just yet. The Conjuring universe is sort of first and foremost on [New Line Cinema’s] horror burner.

Everybody wants to see Freddy again I think, so I think it’s inevitable at some point,” he added.

An exciting thought: Robert Englund did recently state that he might have one more Nightmare on Elm Street movie left in him. How cool would it be to see an older, creepier Freddy Krueger? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.
