'Pet Sematary': New Origins Movie is in the Works for Paramount+

According to a report via our friends over at Deadline this evening, a brand new origins movie based on the Stephen King bestseller Pet Sematary is currently in the development stages, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing and a script written by Jeff Buhler. The film will be heading exclusively to the Paramount+ streaming service.

As the site notes: through three movies, Paramount’s Pet Sematary series of movies have grossed over $175M Worldwide.

Paramount’s official press release did not reveal any additional details on when the prequel movie will be released or who will be starring. But we can confirm that the Paramount+ streaming platform is scheduled to launch on March 4th, 2021.

The original 1989 film, directed by Mary Lambert, begins when:

Louis Creed and his family move into a new home and try to settle in. However, strange things happen after Louis buries his daughter’s cat in an ancient burial ground in the forest behind their house.
