News appeared online today via the folks at ScreenRant that heavy metal singer Rob Zombie almost directed the battle of the slasher icons, but turned it down because he was in the middle of pre-production on House of 1000 Corpses.

The film follows: “Freddy who is losing power, resurrects Jason to terrorize the people of Springwood. But Jason starts intruding on Freddy’s territory and this eventually leads to a stand-off between the two monsters.

Can you imagine how different Freddy Vs. Jason could have been if Zombie directed? Let us know what you think in our comments section below.

New Line Cinema released Freddy Vs. Jason in theatres on August 15th, 2003.
