Robocop Sequel News: Abe Forsythe to direct Robocop Returns for MGM!

The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive news yesterday evening that Abe Forsythe, director of Little Monsters, will replace Neill Blomkamp as director for MGM’s Robocop Returns, the sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 classic.

We first heard the news about a sequel to the original Robocop back in 2018 when MGM made the official announcement confirming that Blomkamp was attached to direct.

Original writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner are producing and exec producing, respectively. Justin Rhodes, who co-wrote the Terminator film that Tim Miller is shooting, will rewrite the script that Neumeier and Miner wrote years ago.

Do you think about Abe Forsythe taking over directing duties for Robocop Returns? Who do you think will good in the role as Murphy in MGM’s Robocop sequel? As usual, you can let us know the answers to both questions down in our comments section below this post.

As of writing this post, no further details have been released explaining why the originally attached director Neill Blomkamp has been replaced by Abe Forsythe.

We also don’t yet have any word at the moment on who will be among the cast.

Meanwhile, we’ll do our best to bring you more on Robocop Returns when/if we hear something.
