'Silent Hills': Director Christophe Gans Shares Update on New Movie

Director of the new Silent Hill movie Christophe Gans recently shared some new details on its progress. Gens also discussed Konami‘s plans to relaunch the Silent Hill video game franchise, and notes that the upcoming movie will be part of the global policy.

While speaking with Jeuxvideo and JeuxActu, Gans talked about the Silent Hill video games and Konami’s plans for the new Silent Hill movie:

The franchise is going to be relaunched in terms of video games, and therefore the film will become part of a global policy. I believe that on a forum, someone deduced that and he is absolutely right; in other words, the film is indeed part of a whole. I work with Konami. Konami’s all about it and I think they’ve been galvanized by the success of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 reboots, which are marvelous games.”

Gans then discussed further details on the new Silent Hill movie:

The script for a new Silent Hill movie that is totally independent from the two previous movies made and respects the way Silent Hill has evolved. Most of the time, these are stand-alone stories. Silent Hill is a bit like Twilight Zone, the Fourth Dimension, a place where anything and everything can happen. I worked on a new Silent Hill which is a Silent Hill of the year 2023 since the film would be released next year, in 2023, and not a Silent Hill as I imagined it in 2006. It is a Silent Hill for today’s audiences while being ultra respectful of the saga. I am aware that Silent Hill is a very great video game franchise and a work of art in the noble sense of the term.

What do you make of Gans comments? Are you excited for the new Silent Hill movie and the relaunch of the video game franchise? As usual, you can let us know the answers to both questions down in our comments section below this post.
