Simon McQuoid's Live-Action 'Mortal Kombat' Movie Moved to January 2021

A new release date has been set for producer James Wan and director Simon McQuoid‘s live-action Mortal Kombat reboot. According to Deadline, the film has been moved from its original March 5th theatrical debut to January 15th, 2021.

Synopsis: “A male protagonist who becomes drawn into the interdimensional tournament, and begins to realize his true potential as a result.

Mortal Kombat is a bold cinematic adventure based on the blockbuster videogame franchise. Bringing the legendary property to life on the big-screen is a team of world-renowned Australian filmmakers.

As you probably already know, the project is being directed by Simon Mcquoid from a script by Greg Russo (Highwaymen), and spearheaded by producer James Wan (The Conjuring).

The film stars Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Lewis Tan, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.

Mortal Kombat is set to tear up theaters on January 15th, 2021.
