Steven Kostanski to Direct ‘Leprechaun Returns’ Sequel to the Original Film (WATCH TEASER)

Leprechaun Returns

SyFy Wire announced today that the original Leprechaun franchise is coming back in a brand new horror sequel to the 1993 film with Leprechaun Returns, which is heading our way in March 2019.

What a perfect way to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day today with this welcomed piece of news. Continue reading for the full low down.

The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. The leprechaun menaced Tory Redding (Jennifer Aniston) until he was finally defeated by shooting a four-leaf clover down his throat. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when a group of sorority girls unwittingly awaken him while tearing down a cabin to build a new sorority house.

The cast is led by Taylor Spreitler (Kevin Can Wait) as Lila, Pepi Sonuga (“Ash vs Evil Dead”) as Katie, Sai Bennett (Lake Placid: Legacy) as Rose, and Linden Porco as the leprechaun (replacing longtime star Warwick Davis). The film will also bring back a co-star from the original film in Mark Holton, who will reprise his role as Ozzie, the group’s goofball friend almost killed by the leprechaun all those years ago. Additional co-stars include Emily Reid as Meredith, Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins as Matt, and Ben McGregor as Andy.

No Warwick Davis is going to be a hard pill to swallow, but Porco does seem to gave a solid screen presence. One thong’s for sure, we are extremely happy to have a true sequel to the original horror classic.

Stay tuned to Dark Universe for more on Leprechaun Returns as it happens. Meanwhile, take a look at a cool new teaser below.
