‘Streets of Rage’ Video Game Getting Movie Adaptation from John Wick Writer Derek Kolstad

Not much to report currently, but Deadline is reporting this evening that Sega‘s iconic beat ’em up video game series Streets of Rage is getting a movie adaptation. The site also confirmed that Derek Kolstad (John Wick and Nobody) will be writing a script for the upcoming project.

Sega’s original 1991 game followed: “the efforts of several ex-police vigilantes trying to rid a fictional, large American city from a crime syndicate that has corrupted its local government.”

According to the source, Sonic producer dj2 Entertainment and Escape Artists (Equalizer franchise) will produce the movie adaptation.

In April of 2020, Sega’s Streets of Rage series was given new life with the long-awaited arrival of Streets of Rage 4, selling an impressive 2.5 million copies worldwide.
