A New "Swamp Thing" TV Series is Creeping Our Way from James Wan

DC Universe is set to resurrect the “Swamp Thing” in a brand new live-action TV series sometime next year. The show has received a “script-to-series order” via the new DC-branded streaming service, reports Variety.

Mark Verheiden (“Ash vs Evil Dead”) and Gary Dauberman (writer of IT: Chapter Twowill serve as writers and executive producers. James Wan and Michael Clear will also executive produce via Wan’s Atomic Monster banner.

The drama follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

Look for the “Swamp Thing” to debut on DC Digital service in 2019.
