Todd McFarlane Teases “Hot and Heavy” Development on His New 'Spawn' Movie

Todd McFarlane‘s new Spawn movie has been in development for what feels like years now, but a more recent update appears to indicate things are getting “hot and heavy” on its progression. Two years prior to this, Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse Productions, teased that there was an “enormous amount of activity” going with the project at the time.

In a discussion with Comicbook Nation this week, McFarlane talked about how the success of Venom and Joker will help him bring Spawn back to theaters:

I think that anytime any of those have success, I think it began a little bit with what Venom did. Because, he’s sort of an anti-hero and then really got turbocharged with Joker. Now, like you’re saying, the iteration of Batman and Moon Knight we’re seeing. That there is a hunger there. That everything doesn’t have to quite go down to the seven-year-old level.

Are you still hungry to see another Spawn movie on the big screen? If so, will it be a day one watch for you at your local theater? You can let us know by sounding off down in our comments section below this post.

Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) has been cast as Al Simmon’s, our hellish superhero known as Spawn. Joining Foxx is Jeremy Renner (28 Weeks Later), who will play homicide detective Maximilian “Twitch” Williams.

Stay tuned to Dark Universe for more possible updates on Spawn in the coming weeks.
