Universal Pulls ‘The Forever Purge’ From July Release Date

Universal Pictures announced today the fifth movie in the Purge franchise, The Forever Purge, will not hit theaters on July 10th as originally planned. The film does not have a new release date at this time.

The Blumhouse produced franchise centers around a near-future dystopian America which celebrates an annual national holiday known as the Purge, in which all crimes, including murder, are legal for a 12-hour period. To this point the franchise has generated over $466 million at the box office with a combined budget of just $36 million.

The Forever Purge is directed by Everardo Gout with a screenplay from franchise creator James DeMonaco. DeMonaco previously revealed the film will be the last in the series.
