Want Bloody Violence and Torture? 'Saw Legacy' Gets An R Rating!

The Spierig brothers directed eighth franchise sequel Saw: Legacy will be unleashed this Halloween. And some even more pleasing news is that the new film is been given an R-rating by the MPAA for Sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, and for language.

Saw: Legacy will pick up over a decade after the death of Jigsaw during the investigation of a new string of murders that fit his modus operandi. Composer Charlie Clouser states that the new film will be a “reinvention” of the saga:

The Spierig brothers can deliver a fresh take on the material that will establish a new story line and new characters that can carry the saga into the future.

Plot details from their report, Saw: Legacy begins with

bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

Saw: Legacy cast also includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

Saw Legacy is written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfiner, the guys behind Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD, and Sorority Row. The film will be directed by the Spierig brothers, Peter and Michael, who are responsible for Undead, Daybreakers and Predestination, while Dan Heffner and Oren Koules are evidently producing.
