Midnight Special Trailer: Jeff Nichols' Film is a Tribute to John Carpenter

The first official trailer for new horror film Midnight Special has just arrived.

Midnight Special is a new horror film by writer/director Jeff Nichols (Mud), and is a tribute to the legendary John Carpenter. We are very impressed with the music score used throughout the trailer, which sounds inspired by Carpenter’s early music he composed during the 70s and 80s.

The film has the following synopsis:

“A father goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton, and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers.

What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates to a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the Federal Government. Ultimately his father risks everything to protect Alton and help fulfill a destiny that could change the world forever, in this genre–defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human.”

The film stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Jaeden Martell, Bill Camp, Scott Haze, Sam Shepard, Paul Sparks, David Jensen, Sharon Landry, Dana Gourrier, Sharon Garrison, Allison Gabriel, Sean Bridgers, Lucy Faust, James Moses Black, and Yvonne Landry.
