It's a Wrap for Lee Cronin's New 'Evil Dead' Film 'Evil Dead Rise'

Director Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) has been hard at work on Evil Dead Rise, the latest installment in the popular horror franchise that will debut on HBO Max. This will be the first entry in the Evil Dead series in nearly 10 years and fans, including myself, couldn’t be more excited.

Cronin took to Twitter to reveal that filming on Evil Dead Rise has officially wrapped. He tweets:

8 months, 1 Covid Lockdown, 6,500 litres of blood, and more memories than my brain can even process. That is a wrap on #EvilDeadRise. Thank you New Zealand, it’s been a blast. Time to head home and cut this beast together.

In Evil Dead Rise, Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sister’s reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.

Currently, there is no confirmed release date for Evil Dead Rise, but it’s expected to arrive on HBO Max sometime next year.

The film stars Gabrielle Echols, Nell Fisher, Morgan Davies, Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland.

Cronin directs with Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert producing.
