HBO Set to Unleash New "Hellraiser" Series With 'Halloween's David Gordon Green to Direct

Separate from Spyglass Media Group’s recently announced Hellraiser reimagining, our cenobite friends will also raise some hell in a brand new “Hellraiser” television series from our friends at the HBO network. David Gordon Green (Halloween) will direct the pilot and several subsequent episodes, while Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘R Treat) will write the episodes.

Deadline shared the following details about the “Hellraiser” TV series from HBO.

The idea is to create an elevated continuation and expansion of the well-established Hellraiser mythology. It is by no means a remake, but rather assumes the past mythology to be a given.

The centerpiece remains Pinhead, the pin cushion-headed merciless leader of the Cenobites, the formerly humans-turned-demons that live in an extra-dimensional realm and are activated through a puzzle box called the Lament Configuration. The Cenobites come from hell to harvest human souls and keep balance between good and evil.

So what do you think? Would you welcome a new “Hellraiser” television series if done right? Are you a fan of horror icon Pinhead and his Cenobites? As usual, you can drop your thoughts on this down in our comment section below this article.

Mark Verheiden (“Battlestar Galactica”, “Daredevil”, “Heroes”) will also write for the series, alongside Dougherty.

More as we learn it.
