Back in March, we told you that a new IT prequel series titled “Welcome to Derry” is in active development at HBO Max. Also, we can confirm that Andy Muschietti is attached to executive produce the series along with Barbara Muschietti. Since those first two announcement, series writer Shelley Meals recently declared that the writers room for the prequel series is now open. You can check out that tweet in the embed within this article.

According to Variety, The series is said to take place in the 1960s in the time leading up to the events of “It: Part One,” the 2017 film based on the Stephen King horror novel. The story is also said to include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown.

Will you be checking out the new IT prequel series when it debuts? If so, are you excited for more mayhem form Pennywise the Dancing Clown in “Welcome to Derry”? As usual, you can let us know the answers to both questions down in our Disqus comments area below this post.
