'Dead by Daylight' and Kadokawa Announces 'Ringu' Chapter DLC For March 2022

Just when we thought that Dead by Daylight had exhausted the bulk of horror heavyweights to include as playable Killers, the folks at Behaviour Interactive dropped an absolute doozy on us. Just two weeks after the release of the Portrait of a Murder chapter, the announcement came via social media that Ringu, the 1998 J-horror smash hit film adapted from Koji Suzuki’s 1991 novel Ring, will be the source material for chapter 23.

This is massive for a couple of reasons. For one, this is as early as the developers have ever called their shot when it comes to a chapter. Typically, the window is around a month before release, with a minimum two weeks of that going to the public test build (PTB). We are three months out from this chapter’s release, and we already have an idea of how it’s going to go. In a 20-second teaser and a brief write-up on their official website, Dead by Daylight’s team have whipped up loads of anticipation.

Furthermore, this shows that Behaviour aren’t afraid to branch out for their licensed characters. With the addition of the Hellraiser chapter this fall, we got our first killer from a British creation, that being Clive Barker’s The Hellbound Heart and his subsequent film adaptation. If we’re going into the Far East for new Killers, imagine what other stories could be interwoven into the lore of The Entity and the endless trials.
